One of the latest inventions by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment is the e-Shram Card. This card is considered to be the gateway to all welfare schemes through one card-one number. The ministry prioritises the welfare and social security of labourers, employees and gig workers in the unorganised sector. Over the past few years, the ministry has launched several new initiatives aimed at helping these workers.

What is e Shram Card?

The e Shram card is a digital ID proof containing a UAN number issued by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment when a person registers. Ministry Log in to the e Shram website with your name, Aadhaar number and mobile number linked with Aadhaar.

Step-by-step guide to register for e-Shram card

All unorganized sector workers, gig workers, etc. working in the country are eligible to register for e Shram. Here is a step-by-step guide to join the country’s largest labor welfare movement.

  • Visit the Ministry’s website. Here To start self-registration.
  • Once you enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and captcha, you will be directed to the registration page where you have to fill in all the personal details.

Only people between the ages of 16 and 59 are eligible to apply. PF and ESIC members are not eligible for registration.

How to use E Shram Card

After successful registration, candidates can avail various services of the portal. These services include

  • My plans: This category allows you to check your eligibility for various government schemes. You can provide your age, income, and educational qualification, and suitable government schemes will be displayed. You can apply online.
  • skill trainingIf candidates need any training, they can apply for the course of their choice. The training is available online and is free.
  • ApprenticeshipApprenticeship is also provided to graduates, diploma holders, ITI certificate holders and others on the basis of e-shram card. They have to apply through the dedicated website launched by the ministry in this regard.
  • Career Services, Another important service provided by the e Shram portal is career services for the cardholders. This website has provisions for registration of both job providers and job seekers as well as career advancement programs.

E Shram card holders are eligible for Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana. Only unorganized sector workers are eligible for this. People between 18 and 40 years are eligible to enroll in this pension scheme. Those whose income is more than 15,000 per month are ineligible for registration.

Pension for traders

This is one of the unique schemes launched by the central government. Self-employed shopkeepers, retail shopkeepers, and other businessmen can enroll in this scheme.
