CUET-UG 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday released the provisional answer key of CUET UG 2024 and assured candidates that it will conduct the re-exam for CUET UG aspirants from July 15 to 19 if any of the complaints raised by students regarding the conduct of the exam are found to be true.

NTA has opened the objection window for candidates to challenge the answers and raise complaints related to the CUEG UG 2024 exam till June 9 at 5 pm.

NTA will conduct the re-examination between July 15 and 19

“The NTA is also addressing public grievances received till June 30 regarding the examination conducted for CUET-UG. If any complaint is found to be genuine, the NTA is committed to re-conduct the examination for these candidates at selected centres on any day between July 15 and 19,” the official said.

Though NTA officials did not comment on the complaints received by the agency, candidates claimed that there was time wastage and technical glitches at some exam centres. “The challenges made by the candidates will be verified by a panel of subject experts. The result will be declared based on the revised final answer key,” the official said.

CUET and 2024 Exam

This year, the NTA CUET UG 2024 exam was conducted on May 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, and 24 in hybrid mode across the country but was cancelled in Delhi a night before the exam citing logistics issues. The exam was later conducted in the national capital.

The NTA had conducted the exam for 15 subjects in pen and paper mode and for the other 48 subjects the exam was conducted in computer-based mode. This year over 13.4 lakh candidates had registered for the common entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses in 261 central, state, deemed and private universities.

The NTA had earlier announced that the third edition of CUET-UG would be completed in seven days and there would be no normalisation of marks as all the exams would be conducted in a single shift. In the first edition of the exam in 2022, the exam was plagued with technical glitches. Also, as a result of the exam being conducted in multiple shifts for one subject, the marks had to be normalised during the declaration of results.

The Centre last week removed NTA Director General Subodh Singh amid allegations of irregularities in medical entrance exam NEET and PhD entrance exam NET. The Centre has appointed a high-level panel led by former Indian Space Research Organisation chief R Radhakrishnan to oversee the transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations through the NTA.

NEET is under investigation for several irregularities, including an alleged paper leak, while UGC-NET was cancelled after the education ministry expressed concerns that the integrity of the exam was compromised. Both cases are currently under investigation by the CBI.
