Essential Qualification & Experience

Program Director

• Master’s degree in relevant field such as Criminal Law with 3 to 5 years of law practice and/or research/advocacy experience on prison reforms, human rights, rights of marginalized communities.

• Ability to lead a team of 12 members in the area of ​​access to justice and proven organising and co-ordination skills with courts, prisons, legal aid system.

• Good communication skills and documentation skills with various stakeholders.

• Familiarity with prison systems: Knowledge of prison systems and procedures to effectively identify prisoners in need of legal assistance and assist them with available legal options.

• Research and writing skills: Good research and writing skills are desirable to draft legal documents.

• Knowledge of human rights and fair trial principles: Understand and maintain human rights principles and fair trial standards while providing legal aid to prisoners.

• Strong ethical standards: Maintain honesty, professionalism, and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive legal matters.

• Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with relevant legal developments, case laws, and best practices in the field of fair trial advocacy.

Research Associate

• Master’s degree in Law or related field with one or two years of research experience preferred.

• Strong research and analytical skills, ability to gather and interpret complex legal information.

• Familiarity with MIS, legal research databases, legal framework and bail jurisprudence.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively present research findings.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and pay attention to detail and meet deadlines while managing multiple research projects.

• Understanding of social justice issues, human rights and challenges faced by prisoners with different vulnerabilities.
