Common Eligibility Test (CET): The same examination will now be conducted for government jobs in central government ministries, departments and organizations. The Cabinet has approved the same Joint Eligibility Test – CET for the recruitment of Group B and Group C posts of Banking, Railways and Staff Selection Commission (SSC). According to the information received from the Central Government Secretary C Chandramouli, there are more than 20 recruitment agencies of the present and we will gradually conduct all these exams with the passage of Common Eligibility Test in future. However, the examinations of only three agencies are being normalized initially.
The joint merit test is to be conducted next year from 2021, under which youth preparing for government job will not have to apply separately for recruitment in central departments and organizations. The Combined Aptitude Test can be held at three levels – Secondary (10th), Senior Secondary (12th) and Graduate. Candidates will be able to appear in these exams as per their merit. Candidates will not have to appear for separate recruitment examinations from the Joint Entrance Examination. This will not clash the dates of various recruitment exams. Also, the candidates will have to pay the fee for the same examination instead of paying the fee repeatedly in filling different forms.
The formation of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) was proposed by the Finance Minister during the 2020 budget speech to organize and implement the Joint Qualification Examination (CET). The Joint Aptitude Test will replace the first level examinations of the Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Board and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.
