OPSC PGT Recruitment Notification 2024, Registration Started for 1375 Posts

Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Will conduct PGT 2024 exam in the state. This recruitment drive aims to fill 1375 vacancies of postgraduate teachers in various subjects within the School and Mass Education Department.

age criteria

Applicants age should not be more than 21 years and 38 years as on 1 January 2023.

Age relaxation for all categories is as follows:

  • Candidates serving in the feeder cadre (TGT for Government High Schools under the School and Mass Education Department, Odisha) are allowed to apply up to the age of 45 years.
  • Age relaxation of 10 years is given to persons with permanent disability of 40% or more.
  • PWD candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC categories can avail relaxation up to 15 years.
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Socially Backward Class, Women and Ex-Servicemen categories are eligible for relaxation in upper age by 5 years.

educational qualification

Graduate degree: The candidate must have a Master's degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university. They must have at least 50% marks in aggregate. Or

Post Graduate Master Course: Candidates may have two years Post Graduate Master course or integrated six years Post Graduate Master course from a Regional College of Education recognized by NCERT in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Or

Bed. degree: Applicants must have B.Ed. Should be. Degree or equivalent qualification recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi. However, B.Ed. The qualification is not a mandatory eligibility criteria for posts in the subjects where B.Ed. Course is not offered. Or

Computer Application Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Computer Application is desirable. Candidates must provide a certificate supporting this qualification from a recognized university, college or institution affiliated to a recognized university.

Application Fee- There is no application fee for appearing in the examination as per the Closing of Application and Payment of Examination Fee for Recruitment to Various Posts and Services in Odisha State Government Rules, 2022.

Selection Process

Written Examination – The written examination consists of three papers (Paper I, II and III), each carrying 100 marks. Each paper is of 2 hours.

  • Paper – I: This paper consists of General English (50 marks) and General Knowledge (50 marks), total 100 questions.
  • Paper II and III: These papers include questions from optional subjects. Each paper contains 100 questions.

Candidates must obtain minimum 33% aggregate marks in all three papers to qualify for the next stage.

Personality Test and Interview– Only those candidates who score minimum qualifying marks in the written examination are eligible to appear for the interview, which consists of 30 marks. Candidates are required to bring original documents/certificates for verification at the time of interview. This stage evaluates the teaching aptitude, subject knowledge, communication skills and overall personality of the candidates.

Final Selection: The final selection is based on the performance of the candidates in both written examination and interview.
